Harrison County FRN Collaborates with Residents of Monticello Ave
Clarksburg, May 22, 2016: Elizabeth Shahan, Executive Director of Harrison County Family Resource Network, has announced the grand opening of the Monticello Community Garden on Monticello Ave Clarksburg. The Monticello Ave residents, in partnership with the Harrison County Family Resource Network, will host a Community Block Party May 22nd at the community garden. A planting party will kick off the event at 2:00pm followed by a ribbon joining and garden dedication ceremony at 3:00pm. Residents of Monticello Avenue and surrounding streets are welcome to attend. “Community gardens are effective ways to beautify communities, create wonderfully useful safe spaces, and join people together to reclaim areas that were lost to overgrowth, illegal activity, and dilapidated structures. This community garden is an important step for the community to come together to support the prevention of drug abuse, and is one key environmental strategy for drug prevention,” said Ms. Shahan.
